Enterprise & innovation; Pop-up shop.

(From the first ever pop up shop)

The idea we had for our own shop was that artists and designers could rent a space within the shop to sell their work, these could range from people trying to make it in the art world and get their work out there or students who want to make some extra money. We also talked about the fact we would take a percentage of everything the person renting the space sold as a bit of extra income for ourselves. One thing that came to mind when we were discussing how our shop element of the studio would work is the Leeds College of Art pop up shop. The pop up shop is held during the academic year and gives students a chance to produce and sell work at one of the sites. For students to take part they must give a fee of £10 for the space to display their work and it will be situated here for a period of three days. The spaces are given on a first come first served basis depending on what you are selling. A percentage is taken from all the sales each student makes over the course of the three days. This information could help us when considering what the charge for our own shop could be because our main target audience may be students too so we get an idea of what can be described as a reasonable fee to charge. It's also more proof that this kind of idea works.
