Enterprise & innovation; Where are they? How will they find me?

Where are my potential clients/employers located?
My clients could be located all over the world depending on which bands, singers or record label i'm working with. This question all depends on where I choose to settle with my career in a sense but then again I could also send work overseas because the technologies allow things like video calling which means meetings can be had online and work can also be sent digitally. With something like the music industry bands and singers are constantly on the move too so they sometimes don't have a direct location.

What media do my potential clients/employers use?
My clients use digital media and print based media mainly. Things like websites, music downloads and posters can be found digital based online usually for bands and singers. This is because the internet is used as a social tool which means that it's quite an easy yet effect way of getting yourself seen and heard. When it comes down to things like tours, the audience are more likely to go searching for these things online because it's quick, easy and can be done from the comfort of your own home. Music downloads on programmes such as itunes also holds such a massive market nowadays, again for convenience because it can be done from the comfort of your own home so the album artwork would be seen digitally on the audiences computer screen. The digital media category falls under design for screen in some senses where websites, downloads and online tour posters are concerned but photography also falls into this category and is not necessarily used just for screen. Photography tends to be quite a popular media within the music industry because bands and singers use images of themselves on tour posters and album covers. Print based media is a massive part of the music industry because album covers, tour posters, t-shirts etc. are all printed so they can advertise and provide information for the audience. Posters and album covers come under the same kind of process but t-shirts may be mass screen printed as this is a popular form.

What do you need to communicate and how does it match your clients/employers need?
I need to create a positive image of the client(s) to convince people to either buy the album/concert tickets/merchandise. Whatever it may be that i'm creating needs to be visually engaging and memorable, it needs to climb above the things that are already out there as the music industry is a huge market. The designs need to be politically correct as they will be seen by billions of people so I need to be sure they won't offend anyone or cause any trouble for my client. There is a fine line and I just need to be sure that I don't cross it. More than ever really I need to encourage people to buy whatever it may be that i'm promoting because the current economical climate means that people are cutting back on 'treats' and things like music albums and concert tickets are seen as a treat. I need to entice people in and make the product play in their mind. The designs will have to communicate to certain social groups wether it be stereotypes or age groups because different styles are going to communicate to different target audiences and are automatically associated with certain social groups. All of the things i've mentioned previously will suit my clients needs because they need to be able to sell themselves to their audience and make the audience want to buy into them again and again as the music industry and music as a career is an ongoing thing. Keeping the design politically correct is quite an important factor for the client because their career could be effected by something like this. Due to the fact I also have an understanding of whats good and bad and the current trends this is going to suit the clients needs because they need to keep up with the times. Most of all the client needs someone with the skill to produce the media they need and this is something I will have.
